Why?
Now that we've seen all of these Christ figures what exactly does this mean? Well in my opinion there are two factors, It all comes down to whether the messages were intentional or coincidence. If intentional it then it is from a business point of view. I think Disney chooses to use a lot of underlying Christian messages because of a lot of the backlash and boycotting attempts from many Christians who do not agree with a lot of Disney’s other themes. However, if Disney uses Christ or God figures, those who notice and practice the faith will be pleased and use it to preach the message of Christ’s sacrifices using the many similarities in the sacrifices of the characters, while those who simply enjoy Disney movies will also remain happy without the blatant expression of religion. These messages tend to please most people allowing Disney to maximize audience as well as their profit.
If it is in fact just coincidental, I think popular morals have a lot to do with it. People love kind-hearted tales of love, sacrifice, and good versus evil. These same factors are integrated in the christian faith so it is easy to make the connections. Disney truly cares about themes of love, sacrifice, protection, and family bonds display the truest kinds love; these also go hand in hand with the Christian faith, therefore displaying prominent Christ figures.
